Dig Safe! April 2015 is "Safe Digging Month"

April 2015 is once again National Safe Digging Month, the time of year when it's especially important to communicate how important it is that professionals and homeowners alike call 811 and follow the safe digging process to help prevent injuries, property damage and inconvenient outages.

Seymour Midwest reminds you to "know what's below". Striking a single line can cause injury, repair costs, fines, and inconvenient outages. Big or small, all digging projects should be reported by calling 811, even if you are just installing a mailbox, constructing a deck, or planting a garden or a tree. An underground utility line is unintentionally damaged by digging once every three minutes nationwide, and one-third of those incidents are caused when no call is made to 811.
